Shelby County – 20-Year-Old Jasmin Cavazos Killed in US 96 Crash

A two-vehicle accident on US Highway 96 caused the death of a woman, according to local authorities.
Last March 21st, police received a report of a two-vehicle accident on US 96, early in the morning. A Pontiac passenger vehicle was heading south on US 96 when it drifted into the center line and crashed into the passenger side of 2007 International truck tractor semi-trailer. The impact of the collision was so great, killing two occupants in the Pontiac. They were identified as Jasmin Cavazos, 20, also from Center, and 28-year-old Jordan Shisler of Center. Police said Shisler was the one operating the vehicle. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck tractor was sent to Center hospital for treatment. He was identified as Jasper Houston, 30, of Frierson, LA.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
