San Juan – Marlena Cantu Died in Two-Car Crash on Minnesota Road

San Juan local officials have released the name of the victim who died in a fatal vehicle collision on Minnesota Road near Veterans Road, according to a local news source.

The fatality was identified as Marlena Cantu, 34, of San Juan.

Just before 11:00 p.m., Marlene Cantu was seen driving a 2014 Ford vehicle along the westbound lane of Minnesota Rd near Raul Longoria Road when her vehicle was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was also traveling along the roadway. The impact of the collision both injured Cantu and her passenger. They were transported to McAllen Medical Center where Cantu died. The passenger was given treatment for his injuries that were considered minor.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Miguel Lopez, 34, of Alamo, was also taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said he lost control of the vehicle causing him to rear-end Cantu’s vehicle.
