San Antonio– Tragic Austin Highway Crash Kills Pedestrian

A tragic pedestrian collision on Austin Highway took the life of one person last Tuesday night, reports say.
According to San Antonio police officials, a person who was in a wheelchair was attempting to cross Austin Highway when he was struck by a truck that was traveling along the northbound lanes. Based on the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was waiting at the center of the roadway for the vehicles heading south to pass before he hit by the truck.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police. Investigators said that he was not intoxicated during the time of the crash.
