San Antonio— Suspected DUI Driver Struck a Pedestrian on Enrique M. Barrerra Parkway

The San Antonio Police Department is investigating a pedestrian collision which involved a suspected drunk driver on Enrique M. Barrerra Parkway, last Wednesday.
Local officers said that the said car accident took place on 800 block of Enrique M. Barrerra Parkway. According to initial reports, an undescribed vehicle was traveling along the roadway when it hit a man who was walking on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was pinned underneath the vehicle and was then dragged between 150 to 200 feet between Southwest 38th and 39th street. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the victim was already lifeless.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. SAPD investigating team is looking into factors such as intoxication or speed as a factor that played a role in the crash. A mandatory blood draw was then arranged.
The crash remains under investigation.
