In the United States, Texas is one of the leading states in the number of traffic collisions involving fatalities. In fact, in 2015 alone, the state recorded more than 1,300 deaths caused by intoxicated drivers. Despite the government’s aggressive efforts to keep DUI-related collisions down, Texas remains the worst state in the country for alcohol-involved car crashes.
What are the penalties for drunk driving in Texas? Depending on a driver’s blood alcohol content (BAC) and other circumstances, they can be charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and face punishments such as jail time and thousands of dollars of fines. They could also face civil lawsuits from any victims of their reckless behavior.
