San Antonio – Man Who Died in Hit-and-Run Crash on Hot Wells Boulevard Identified

The San Antonio Police Department has named the man who died after getting into a car collision with a hit-and-run driver on Hot Wells Boulevard, last week.

The fatality was identified as Cliff Martinez.

Initial investigation shows that Martinez, who was an off-duty police officer, was attempting to break two groups of men from fighting when he was struck by a car driven by one of the men involved in the brawl. Instead of rendering aid to Martinez, the two occupants of the vehicle sped off and left the scene. The impact of the crash critically injured the officer. He has already succumbed to his injuries when emergency medics arrived at the scene.
