A man was sent to the hospital after getting hit by a vehicle on Interstate 35, early Thursday morning.
At around 2:30 a.m., police officers were dispatched to I-35 in Salado to assist in an auto versus pedestrian collision. Initial investigation shows that a semi-truck was traveling along the highway when it crashed into a disabled 18-wheeler truck. The driver of the truck exited the vehicle to divert traffic around the wreckage when he was then hit by a passenger vehicle. The impact of the crash seriously injured the driver of the semi. He was immediately taken to the local hospital where he was listed in an unknown condition. His identification was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
Responding officers said the driver of the second semi-truck did not stop when it hit the first semi.
No one else was injured.
An investigation is underway.
