Rusk County – Motorcyclist Identified Following Fatal FM 782 Collision

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of the victim who died in a fatal motorcycle crash on Farm to Market Road 782 in Rusk County.
The fatality was identified as 54-year-old Samuel D. Jeffus, a resident from Henderson.
Just after 2:00 p.m., police responded to FM 782, nine miles southwest of Tatum, following reports of a crash. According to initial reports, a motorcycle was traveling along the roadway when it suddenly went out of control and left the roadway. It continued on, flipped a number of times, and overturned. The impact caused the rider to be thrown off from his car, leaving him fatally injured. The victim, identified as Samuel Jeffus, was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
Police have yet to determine why Jeffus lost control of his motorcycle.
