Raymondville – Woman Dies in Suspected Speeding Crash on SH 186

The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation in a deadly collision on State Highway 186 last Saturday evening.
At around 9:40 p.m., DPS troopers were requested to assist in a solo vehicle accident on SH 186. Police said an undescribed vehicle was seen traveling along the westbound lane of the highway when it went out of control upon approaching a curve. The car then went off the roadway and crashed into a palm tree. Further details surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time but authorities believed that the driver of the car may have been traveling at an unsafe speed which caused him to lose control.
The impact of the collision left the driver, who was only identified as a 71-year-old woman, with major injuries. She was pronounced deceased by emergency crews.
No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
