Raymondville local officials have released the name of the teen driver who died in a vehicle accident on US 77, last Thursday.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old 19-year-old Jonathan Young.
According to reports, the fatal collision took place at around 9:45 p.m. on Business 77 near Raymondville. An undescribed vehicle was seen traveling along the highway when, for reasons that had not been determined, it struck a car driven by Jonathan Young. Young’s car was then pushed into the path of a third vehicle resulting in a second collision. The force of impact killed Young. His passenger, a four-year-old boy, and the driver of the third car suffered from major injuries. They were rushed to an area hospital where they received treatment. Authorities have yet to release their condition.
The driver of the first vehicle, Dayna Louise Salinas, 26, of Raymondville was charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. Her total bond was set at $200,000 and she remains in custody.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased victim. May God grant you the strength you need to get through this difficult moment in your life. We strongly believe that authorities will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
In Texas, car collisions happen on a regular basis. Most of the time, these events result in injuries and fatalities. Victims involved in crashes are left to deal with life-threatening injuries, damages to property, and worse—emotional trauma. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
