Raymondville – Maria Elisa ID’d Victim of SH 186 Collision

The Raymondville Police Department has released the name of the female driver who died following a fatal vehicle accident on State Highway 186, Saturday.
The fatality was identified as 71-year-old Maria Elisa Mesa.
According to initial reports, Mesa was driving along the westbound lane of SH 186 when she lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. Her vehicle then went off the roadway and crashed into a palm tree. A preliminary investigation indicates that Mesa was driving at an unsafe speed prior to the collision.
Mesa was seriously injured from the impact of the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No one else was injured, as per reports.
Local investigators were also called to the scene to gather more information about the incident.
