Rains County – Two-Car Crash on SH 276 Leaves 3 Dead

A fatal car accident took the lives of three people on State Highway 276 East Tawakoni, Thursday afternoon.
According to initial reports, the incident happened at around 12:00 p.m. on SH 276. A 1999 Nissan Maxima had been traveling along the eastbound lane when, for reasons that had not been determined yet, it veered into the opposite side of the road where it collided with a westbound 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Two occupants in the Nissa were pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene. Their identification was not immediately disclosed pending notification of their next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford sustained injuries as a result of the crash. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Local investigators were also called to the scene to determine why the Nissan drifted into the westbound lane of SH 276.
An investigation is still in progress.
