HOUSTON, TX – Racing drivers caused a Houston Police patrol car to crash into a heavy-duty wrecker last night, per FOX 26 Houston.
Authorities were responding to a previous 18-wheeler collision at Wayside Drive. A big rig collided with a bridge on Wayside Drive, between Polk and Capitol, around 9:30 p.m. last night.
Around 11 p.m., a second truck crashed into the train bridge near Wayside Drive while traveling on Interstate 10. Wreckers shut down all but the left lane while they worked to free the truck from under the bridge.
A few hours after the second crash, three racing cars began to head toward the accident scene. One of the racers rear-ended an HPD patrol car and caused the vehicle to crash into a heavy-duty wrecker.
The driver and the officer sustained minor injuries. All three racers were arrested and now face felony charges.
