Powderly – Motorcycle vs Car Crash on US 271

At least two people died as a result of a fatal car accident on US 271 North in Powderly.
According to police reports, A 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was waiting for a green light at the cross street of US 271 and Farm to Market Road 2648 when it entered the intersection and get struck by a passing motorcycle that was heading north. A local official said that the SUV was chasing after an ambulance transporting a relative to Paris Regional Medical Center.
The two passengers of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. They were later identified as 71-year old Carl Oldham and 68-year old Deborah Oldham–both residents of Powderly.
Powderly Volunteer Fire Department, Paris EMS, Paris Fire Department Rescue 1, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and DPS all attended the scene.
Local investigators are still determining if charges will be filed against the driver of the Chevrolet.
