The Port Arthur Police Department has yet to release more information about a motorcycle collision on Farm to Market Road 365, Monday afternoon.
According to initial reports, police officers received a notification about an accident at around 2:00 p.m. on FM 365 near West Port Arthur Road. A 2002 Suzuki motorcycle was seen traveling along the westbound lane, at an unsafe speed, when it collided with an 18-wheeler truck heading west on West Port Arthur Road.
The rider of the motorcycle, identified only as a 51-year-old Port Arthur resident, was immediately transported to St. Elizabeth hospital via ambulance. Authorities said that he was listed in serious condition. Fortunately, the driver of the truck was not injured.
The crash remains an active investigation and there are no additional details to be released.
In Texas, car collisions happen on a regular basis. Most of the time, these events result in injuries and fatalities. Victims involved in crashes are left to deal with life-threatening injuries, damages to property, and worse—emotional trauma. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
