Port Arthur – 1 Killed in Major Crash on Highway 73

A fatal car accident which involved an 18-wheeler truck caused the death of one person on State Highway 73 in Port Arthur, Wednesday evening.

At around 6:00 p.m., local police responded to Highway 73 near Highway 82 to assist in a collision between a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and an 18-wheeler truck. According to the report released by the Port Arthur Police Department, the impact was so great that it caused one of the vehicles to catch fire. No further details are available at this time.

Emergency crews said that at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not confirmed if he was an occupying the SUV or the truck.

No one else was injured.

Area authorities arrived at the site of the crash to determine liability. Police said that the 18-wheeler struck the SUV.
