Pilot suffers minor injuries after rough landing for plane carrying TX State Rep. Phelan

BURKE, TX (ANGELINA COUNTY) – The pilot of a private plane carrying presumptive Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont) suffered minor injuries after a difficult landing in Angelina County, northeast of Houston.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the accident happened at the Angelina County Airport, located in Burke, which is about 110 miles to the northeast of Houston, on Wednesday.
The anti-lock brakes reportedly malfunctioned during the landing of the aircraft, and then after the pilot attempted to restart them, he lost all braking function. The private plane then skidded through the end of the runway and over a street before coming to rest in a field.
The pilot sustained minor injuries during the accident but is expected to make a recovery.
Phelan and the other passengers were not reported as hurt.
The weather conditions were rainy and difficult at the time, according to Phelan.
