Pedestrian killed in wreck on South Sergeant Macario Garcia Drive

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian was killed in a wreck in the Magnolia Park area on Thursday, January 14, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department.

The 66-year-old pedestrian was reportedly crossing the road at 1400 South Sgt. Macario Garcia Drive when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Authorities report that the victim was not using a crosswalk at the time of the collision. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

The driver of the vehicle involved was determined not to be impaired at the time of the wreck and was released.

The crash remains under investigation.
