HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle while walking on a road in southeast Houston’s Greater Hobby Area, reports FOX26 Houston.
The fatal incident occurred in the 10000 block of Telephone Road shortly before 1:30 a.m.
According to Houston Police, the pedestrian appeared to have been walking in the street when he was hit by a driver in a dark-colored Honda CRV. The SUV continued traveling for a few blocks before the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers arrived to find the victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, deceased at the scene.
An investigation and search for the suspect driver remain underway, but at this time, authorities believe speed contributed to the crash.
