HOUSTON, TX — A 22-year-old man died Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in west Houston’s Alief area, reports Chron.
The fatal incident took place at the corner of Harwin Drive and Boone Road at about 11:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV was eastbound on Harwin when it changed lanes to pass another vehicle who had slowed down for yellow lights at the intersection. The suspect then struck the male pedestrian in the crosswalk and sped away without stopping to render aid.
Authorities confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.
An investigation by Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains ongoing. At this time, police are searching for the driver of either a Tahoe or Suburban SUV.
