Pedestrian hit, killed while crossing poorly lit section of Westheimer Rd

HOUSTON, TX – A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle early this morning while he attempted to cross a section of Westheimer Road that authorities described as dimly lit.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the accident happened in west Houston, in the 12800 block of Westheimer, near the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, at about 2:45 a.m. when the victim tried to cross the road.
This area of the roadway is not particularly well lit, according to the report, and authorities believe that the driver did not see the victim prior to the crash.
The victim, who has not been identified at this time, died as a result of his injuries.
The driver stopped after the crash to render aid to the victim and cooperated with the investigation. They are not suspected of having been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
