Pedestrian hit, injured by patrol vehicle on Clay Rd in NE Katy

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A 77-year-old man was hospitalized late Tuesday night after being struck by a Harris County sheriff’s deputy’s patrol car in Katy, reports Click2Houston.
The incident occurred near 21411 Clay Road, in the city’s Bridgewater Pointe neighborhood, at about 11:00 p.m.
Authorities said a District 4 deputy was en route to another scene when he saw a pedestrian in his path ahead. The pedestrian, who was said to have wearing all black, moved to the right at the same time the deputy swerved to the right and was hit.
The victim suffered a head injury and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was last listed in stable condition. Deputies said he is expected to survive.
An investigation remains ongoing, but authorities have since noted the area of the crash site is not well lit.
