Pedestrian fatally hit by vehicle on Veterans Memorial Dr in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — One person died late Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in northwest Houston’s Greenwood Forest area, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal incident occurred in the 12800 block of Veterans Memorial Drive at approximately 7:19 p.m.

According to authorities, a pedestrian failed to yield to traffic as they traveled eastbound across the road at the same time a white Chevy Silverado was going northbound in lane 2. The pedestrian was then hit by the Chevy, pushing the victim east onto the grass.

The victim was rushed to Houston Northwest Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased shortly after 10:00 p.m.

No further details have been disclosed, but an investigation by the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division was underway.
