Pedestrian fatally hit by semi-truck on Westheimer Rd in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Monday afternoon after being struck by a large truck while running into a road in Houston’s Westchase neighborhood, reports FOX26 Houston.
The fatal incident occurred in the 11300 block of Westheimer Road, near Hayes Road, shortly before 12:25 p.m.
According to Houston Police, a 42-year-old man was driving a white Freightliner box truck eastbound when he spotted the pedestrian standing on the road’s median. The driver said the man then darted into the roadway, where he was hit by the truck’s rear.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed authorities.
The driver stayed after the crash and cooperated with officers. He was not suspected of intoxication and was later released after questioning.
At this time, an investigation remains in progress.
