HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman died Wednesday night after being struck by multiple vehicles on the North Freeway in Spring, reports Click2Houston.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal incident occurred in the 21000 block of the southbound freeway, in the Spring Dell neighborhood, at about 8:40 p.m.
An early investigation indicates a woman was behind the wheel of a silver Dodge Challenger heading southbound in lane #2 when a female pedestrian entered traffic and ran toward the vehicle. Authorities said the driver was unable to stop the Challenger in time, and the vehicle’s passenger side side-swiped the pedestrian.
Moments later, the pedestrian was struck by several other vehicles, whose drivers fled the scene. Only the driver of the Challenger remained at the scene when deputies arrived.
EMS personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Deputies said they do not believe the remaining driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
No further details have been released at this time, but an investigation was underway.
