HOUSTON, TX — A 74-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Houston’s Mid-West area, reports LMT Online.
Houston Police said the fatal incident occurred in the 8200 block of Westheimer Road.
According to authorities, the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a driver in a Jeep Commander.
Responding medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The driver stayed and cooperated with investigators. He was later released from the scene, and no citations or charges have been filed as of this writing.
An investigation was underway, but at this time, high speed is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
