Pedestrian fatally hit by driver off I-10 Katy WB near west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle off the Katy Freeway near Bear Creek Pioneers Park in northwest Houston, reports The Leader.
The fatal incident occurred in the 11400 block of the westbound freeway’s access road shortly after 6:30 a.m.
According to the Houston Police Department, a white Dodge Journey was heading westbound on the road when it hit the pedestrian, who had been trying to cross the street outside of a pedestrian crosswalk.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
An investigation remains ongoing, but impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
