HOUSTON, TX — A man was fatally injured Thursday afternoon when he walked into the path of an 18-wheeler on North Loop Freeway West in northwest Houston, reports ABC13.

Houston police said the fatal crash happened on the westbound freeway near TC Jester Boulevard shortly after 2:10 p.m.

Authorities had received a call about a man walking on the freeway ramp moments before he was struck by the truck.

No other details have been reported on the circumstances behind the incident, but footage taken at the scene shows skid marks on the roadway, suggesting the driver tried to swerve from the pedestrian.

The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

All main westbound lanes were shut down during the emergency response.
