Pedestrian dies after being hit by Jeep on the Eastex Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian died after being hit by a Jeep on the Eastex Freeway last night, according to the Houston Police Department.
The driver of the Jeep, an unidentified woman, was driving near 8700 Eastex Freeway around 11 p.m. when the vehicle in front of her suddenly braked. To avoid hitting the vehicle, she swerved out of the way, hitting a 54-year-old male pedestrian.
The victim was rushed to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was declared dead. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
