The Pecos County Police Department is conducting an investigation about a two-car crash on US Highway 285 that happened last October 12.
At around 11:00 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety responded to US 285, just eight miles north of Fort Stockton, to assist in a collision between a truck-tractor and a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban. Police said a 2020 Kenworth truck-tractor was heading south on the highway when a northbound Suburban suddenly crossed the southbound lanes and collided with the Kenworth that was towing a semi-trailer. The impact of the crash caused the truck-tractor to catch fire. Meanwhile, the Suburban overturned before coming to rest.
The driver of the Kenworth was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace. The Chevrolet driver was not injured. No identification has been released at this time.
Initial investigation shows that both drivers were wearing a seat belt.
