Patient dies after car strikes ambulance in SW Houston’s South Main

HOUSTON, TX — An 84-year-old woman died Monday afternoon after a rollover ambulance crash in southwest Houston’s South Main area, reports Click2Houston.
Houston Police said the fatal incident took place in the 9900 block of South Main Street at around 2:40 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the ambulance was traveling northbound with its emergency equipment activated as it crossed the Interstate 610 South Loop service road intersection. Authorities said the emergency vehicle was struck by a Toyota Camry, which caused it to roll onto its side.
The victim, who was initially being transported for a life-threatening medical emergency, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she later died.
Authorities also said several other occupants in the ambulance also sustained minor injuries.
As of this writing, no other information has been shared regarding the causing driver.
