Patient dead, 4 injured in crash involving private ambulance near Klein

KLEIN, TX (HARRIS COUNTY) – A crash near Klein involving a private ambulance led to the death of a woman and the hospitalization of four other people late last night, according to KHOU.
The accident occurred near the intersection of TC Jester Boulevard and Cypresswood Drive at 11:13 p.m., when the driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla allegedly ran a red light.
The Corolla crashed into a private ambulance, which was taking a woman named Shirley Ogletree to be treated for a non-critical complaint. The ambulance overturned multiple times after being struck.
Ogletree was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Corolla was trapped within the wreckage for a short time. After being extricated by emergency crews, he was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.
His passenger was transported for treatment via ground ambulance.
Two EMTs in the ambulance were also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
