HOUSTON, TX — An 87-year-old woman died Tuesday, more than two weeks after a two-vehicle collision on the North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, reports Houston Police Department.
The accident took place in the 1600 block of the North IH-610 East service road on Friday, October 15 at approximately 3:35 p.m.
An investigation by HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division shows a red Dodge Avenger was eastbound on the service road when its male driver failed to maintain its speed. The vehicle collided with the back of a white Kenworth 18-wheeler cab and trailer that was stopped at Hardy Street on a red light.
The woman, who was a passenger in the Dodge, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital.
She was later taken to Houston Hospice, where she died on November 3, confirmed Houston Police.
No one else was reported injured.
Authorities said an investigation remains in progress and no charges have been filed at this time.
