Passenger dies after two-car wreck on Southwest Fwy in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — One person was killed early Saturday morning in a rear-end collision on Southwest Freeway in the Greenway/Upper Kirby area of west Houston, reports Houston Chronicle.

The accident happened near Newcastle Drive at approximately 3:00 a.m.

According to authorities, a pickup truck slammed into the back of a slow-moving or stalled vehicle, fatally injuring its driver.

Shortly after, a police cruiser at the scene was also struck by a vehicle while responding officers conducted an investigation.

No further information has been released on the first causing driver and whether or not they remained after the fatal crash.
