Overturned 18-wheeler closes Southwest Fwy near Houston’s Midtown

HOUSTON, TX — A rollover wreck involving a big rig early Wednesday shut down the Southwest Freeway near Houston’s Midtown area, reports KHOU11.
Houston police said the accident happened on the southbound freeway near State Highway 288 at around 3:30 a.m.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, which was carrying 48,000 pounds of sheet metal, was going south when the truck began to flip at a curve in the road until it jackknifed.
No significant injuries have been reported in the event, and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.
Morning commuters faced long delays, but all southbound lanes were reopened by 8:40 a.m.
