One killed in wrong-way collision on Spur 527 near Midtown Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A woman died early Friday morning after a wrong-way accident that injured two others on Texas State Highway Spur 527 in Houston’s Midtown area, reports Click2Houston.
Houston Police said the fatal crash happened at the U.S. Highway 59 interchange at around 2:33 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a man was driving a truck against oncoming traffic when he collided with another vehicle.
A female passenger in the victim vehicle suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
At least two other people were said to have been transported to a hospital, but it was unclear whether the patients included the truck driver or other occupants in the other vehicle.
Authorities said the truck driver was expected to be evaluated for possible intoxication.
No further details have been released at this time, but an investigation remains in progress.
