One killed in crash with big rig on E Richey Rd near north Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A male passenger died Friday after a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler near Lone Star College-North Harris in north Houston, reports Click2Houston.
The fatal wreck occurred at the intersection of East Richey Road and Aldine Westfield Road.
According to Houston police, the driver of a red Chevrolet Cruze ran a red light and was struck by a Freightliner big rig, which was traveling on a green light and turning left onto the westbound lanes of East Richey Road.
Authorities said the Chevrolet’s front passenger was rushed to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered critical injuries, and a rear passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to area hospitals.
No injuries to the truck driver were reported.
An investigation remains in progress, and no charges have been filed as of this writing.
