One dead, two injured in dramatic crash in NE Harris County

ATASCOCITA, TX (HARRIS COUNTY) – A dramatic, multi-vehicle crash last night in Atascocita, in northeast Harris County, led to the death of one person and two people being taken to the hospital.
According to KPRC2, the accident happened at about 10 p.m. at the 8700 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1960 East, near Atascocita Shores Drive.
While driving on the eastbound lanes of FM 1960, a man driving a 2016 Dodge Charger failed to maintain a lane when he approached the intersection. He traveled off the roadway and into a pole and a telephone box.
The Dodge then continued into Atascocita Shores Drive and collided with a Toyota Tundra that was stopped at a traffic light. The impact caused the Tundra to spin out into the grass, and the Charger then collided with the front of a Toyota Sequoia which counted a juvenile among its occupants.
After colliding with the Sequoia, the Dodge overturned and hit a utility pole. It landed upside-down, then caught on fire.
A female passenger inside the Dodge was rescued from the burning wreckage by bystanders, but the driver of the vehicle did not make it out of the car. He was found dead inside the vehicle once the fire was put out.
The Dodge’s passenger was airlifted to the hospital for the treatment of critical injuries. The driver of the Tundra also suffered serious injuries and was driven to an area hospital for treatment, where he is now in stable condition.
The people inside the Sequoia were not hurt in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the fiery collision at this time.
