One dead, one injured in alleged DWI crash after car drives off I-45 overpass

HOUSTON, TX – One person is dead after a high-speed accident early this morning involving an allegedly drunk driver in central Houston.
According to Fox 26 Houston, the accident happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Pierce Street when a 2020 Dodge Charger reportedly drove off an overpass and caught fire. The vehicle, reportedly traveling at high speeds, then hit a tree and fell over 100 feet to the ground beneath the overpass.
The driver, a man in his mid-20’s, was pulled out of the wreckage by emergency officials. After CPR was administered, he was taken to the hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle died at the scene of the crash.
According to the report, the driver was intoxicated and is facing possible charges of intoxicated manslaughter.
