One dead in fiery truck accident on US-290

HOUSTON, TX – One person is dead following a collision with a cement truck and a cargo van Saturday morning in Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The accident happened at about 12:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 290 near Bingle Road when the van collided with the back of a cement truck. The van then burst into flames.
The driver of the van, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene of the crash.
The truck driver was not reported as injured.
At this point, authorities are not certain as to what caused the collision.
The accident led authorities to close off part of 290 for the investigation of the collision, which continues at this time.
