Officer hit by car by criminal mischief suspect near Emancipation Park protest

HOUSTON, TX – A police officer was hit by a car near a protest in Emancipation Park tonight, according to KPRC2.
The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. at Emancipation Avenue and Jefferson Street.
The police officer was hit after approaching a suspect vandalizing an automobile. The suspect struck the police officer while fleeing the scene, the report says.
There is no information at this time regarding the identity of the officer.
The officer was taken to the hospital but is not reported to have any serious injuries.
