Officer, DUI suspect hurt in series of crashes near Houston’s Galleria

HOUSTON, TX — Two people, including an HPD officer, were hospitalized early Friday after a vehicle lost control at another crash site in southwest Houston, reports Click2Houston.
Houston Police Department said the events unfolded in the 4900 block of Hidalgo Street at about 3:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Honda Accord first struck a barrier near Hidalgo Street and Post Oak Boulevard at about 2:00 a.m. Moments later, a driver crashed a Jeep into the site. As the officer and two tow truck drivers were responding to the scene, they were hit by another Honda that had lost control while exiting Interstate 610 southbound.
Authorities confirmed one officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the Jeep, who was suspected of impairment, was also transported to a hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.
