New Braunfels – Wrong-Way Collision Injures Woman on Loop 337

An auto crash involving a wrong-way driver took place on the southbound lanes of Loop 337, Saturday night, according to local reports.
At around 10:40 p.m., a 2009 Chevrolet 3500 was seen heading north on the southbound lanes of Loop 337 when it collided with a 2009 Mazda 5 heading south. The impact of the head-on collision was so great that fire officials had to extricate a female passenger from the wreckage. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was taken to Comal County Sheriff’s Office and charged with intoxication assault. He was identified only as a 66-year-old New Braunfels man.
No words on the driver of the Mazda.
The highway was shut down for a couple of hours for clearing.
An investigation is underway.
