New Braunfels Police Department city officials are conducting an investigation regarding a collision that injured an infant on State Highway 46, early Saturday morning.
At around 12:30 a.m., local officers received a call reporting a crash at the 2800 block of SH 46 South. According to the report, a 2013 Toyota pickup truck heading south on the highway was seen shifting one lane to another when it drifted onto the northbound lane and collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The impact of the crash caused the pickup truck to flip on its side, trapping its driver and his passenger inside the wreckage. They were rushed to Seton Hospital in Austin via ambulance.
The Malibu sustained serious front-end damage. Emergency crews had to extricate its driver including his two-month-old passenger. The infant was rushed to Resolute Hospital as a precaution and further care.
No identifications have been released at this time.
Our deepest sympathies to the victim of this unfortunate event. We strongly believe that the New Braunfels Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Injuries caused by vehicle collisions can vary from crash to crash. Some injuries may heal within a span of days while others could paralyze a victim’s body for a month. The most commonly known car accident injuries include neck and chest and head and back injuries. Broken and ligament damages are also quite common.
Being a victim of a collision is an overwhelming experience. If you are a passenger in a car involved in crash, the first thing you should do is seek medical attention for yourself and anyone who needs it. After this, you’ll want to alert your insurance provider regarding damages or injuries you sustained from the collision. To submit a claim, you would need to gather documents supporting your claim. These may include a video of the scene or a photograph of the damages to the vehicles, police reports stating the facts of the accident, and medical records indicating the severity of your injury, to name a few.
