Multi-vehicle accident blocks two lanes on IH-45 SB near Bayou Vista

GALVESTON COUNTY, TX — A multi-vehicle collision Tuesday morning closed two lanes and a shoulder on the Gulf Freeway near Bayou Vista, according to Houston Transtar.

The crash happened on the southbound lanes (IH-45) before Texas State Highway 6 and 146. It was verified by Houston Transtar at 9:40 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the accident, but authorities said five vehicles were involved. Commuters faced delays as the scene blocked the left shoulder, left lane, and center lane.

By 10:55 a.m., more than an hour later, the lanes remained shut down, indicating a major crash and extended emergency response.

As of this writing, authorities have not released details regarding any possible injuries.
