HOUSTON, TX — A 60-year-old man died Wednesday night after his motorcycle hit a car on South State Highway 6 near Village at West Oaks in west Houston, reports Houston Police Department.
The fatal collision occurred in the 2200 block of the highway, near the city’s George Bush Park/Eldridge area, at around 8:45 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a black Hyundai Elantra was leaving a parking lot and was waiting on the shoulder of the highway while yielding to traffic. As the car entered the roadway, it was hit by a maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle going northbound.
The rider suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. He was found to have not been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Authorities said the driver of the Hyundai cooperated with officers at the scene and consented to a blood draw. The driver was released after questioning, and no charges have been filed as of this writing.
An investigation remains ongoing.
