At least one person was killed while another was injured after a fatal car crash on US 82 near Nocona, last Wednesday.

At around 11:30 a.m., Texas DPS officials responded to US 82 between Nocona and St. Jo to assist in a traffic accident involving two cars. Initial investigation indicates that a vehicle was traveling along the highway when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it drifted into the right shoulder and crashed into another car that was parked on the side of the roadway. The parked vehicle was pushed into the right ditch while the first vehicle burst into flames at the middle of the roadway.

The driver of the first car managed to exit the vehicle before it caught fire. He was rushed to the Nocona hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second driver was rushed to Medical City Denton where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the impact.

No identification has been released.
