Mitchell County – Jason Edmond Covington Struck and Killed by Car on Interstate 20

A Lubbock pedestrian died after getting hit by a car on Interstate 20 service road near Westbrook, early Wednesday morning.
The fatality was identified as 38-year-old Jason Edmond Covington. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Covington was walking along I-20, a few miles west of Westbrook, when he was hit by a pickup truck that was traveling along the eastbound lane. The impact of the collision killed the male pedestrian.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup was transported to Mitchell County Hospital in Colorado City with unspecified injuries. He was later released after receiving medical treatment. Authorities later identified the driver as 40-year-old Michael Heath Blair from Coahoma.
It was not confirmed if Blair will be facing charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
