Midland – Woman Injured on Interstate 20 Identified

The Midland Police Department has identified the female victim who was sent to the hospital following a car accident on Interstate 20 near County Road 1221.
The victim was named as 22-year-old Esmerelda Perez Gonzalez.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 3:30 a.m. on I-20. A vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed when it crashed into the rear side of a tractor-trailer that was traveling in the same direction. The driver, identified as Esmeralda Gonzalez, sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. She was given medical assistance and transported to a local hospital where she was listed in an unknown condition.
No one else was injured.
Local investigators arrived at the scene to determine liability. An investigation is underway.
