Midland – Woman Died Following Two-Car Crash on Highway 349

The Dawson County Police Department has named the driver who died in an auto collision on Texas 349 last October 19.
Authorities named the fatality as 85-year-old Bonnie L. Byrom. She is a resident of Midland.
Last Sunday, Byrom was seen driving a vehicle along the eastbound lane of Highway 349 near Highway 87 when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it ran a red light at the intersection and collided with another vehicle. Police said Byrom was attempting to make a turn towards Hwy 87 when the crash took place.
The impact seriously injured Byrom. She was rushed to Lamesa’s Medical Arts Hospital, where she later died. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Alejandro Vasquez of Lamesa, was unharmed.
An investigation is still in progress.
